A Calling from Above
September 11, 2001 started out as a normal day for many people in New York. Early morning traffic hustled along as people headed to work, unaware of the Events that would unfold that day.
At 8:46am American Flight 11 from Boston crashes into the North Tower at the World Trade Center. 17 minutes later United Flight 175 from Boston crashes into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. Immediately the City began to come to a standstill as the streets were filled with panic and confusion, people trying to make sense out of what just happened.
At 9:45 American Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon. Over the next 43 Minutes the North and South Towers, as well as a portion of the Pentagon, collapse as yet another plane crashes. At 10:10am United Flight 93 crashes into a wooded area in Pennsylvania, after passengers confront hijackers.
This attack showed a great need for people to come together in Response. The calling didn't just go out to those who had expertise in specific areas, or those who had high qualifications, but all who could help. A Calling From Above was heard around the World for people to come together regardless of who they were or what they knew.
That need for Volunteers continues to hold strong. Today we face Gang Related Violence, Drugs on our Streets, Teen Pregnancy, the growing popularity of things such as The Occult, and many other challenges. The United States Corps of Chaplains is calling any and every Patriotic Christian who may wish to do God's Work through Community Ministry & Service. If you feel like something is tugging on your Spirit to stand and act...perhaps it may be a Calling From Above?
